Rising Rapper Succumbs to Gun Violence in Tampa Hotel Shooting

Florida rapper, Julio Foolio (real name Charles Jones), tragically lost his life early Sunday morning in a shooting at a Tampa hotel. Legal counsel, Lewis Fusco, confirmed the news to WTSP-TV, a local CBS affiliate.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4:40 am in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Tampa North. According to Tampa Police spokesperson Jonee Lewis, gunfire targeted two vehicles, injuring four individuals. While official identification by the medical examiner is pending, WTSP reported the deceased to be 26-year-old Charles Jones, known professionally as Julio Foolio.

Mr. Fusco elaborated to WTSP, stating that Foolio was celebrating his birthday with a gathering at a Tampa Airbnb rental. However, due to exceeding the occupancy limit, they were asked to leave. Following this, Foolio reportedly proceeded to the Holiday Inn, where he was allegedly ambushed.

Foolio, a rising star with a significant social media presence boasting over 1 million Instagram followers, had been actively documenting his birthday celebration in Tampa.

Thankfully, the hotel guests remained in their rooms during the incident. Police secured the scene and offered assistance as needed. Jonee Lewis emphasized the importance of public collaboration in the investigation.

"Any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could be vital in piecing together this morning's events," Lewis stated. "The Tampa Police Department urges anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact us at (813)231-6130."

This senseless act of violence has undoubtedly impacted the music community and deeply saddened Foolio's fans. The investigation remains ongoing, and the Tampa Police Department actively seeks any leads from the public.
