‘Practical Magic 2’ is officially happening. Will Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock return?

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are in negotiations to reprise their roles as witchy sisters Gillian and Sally Owens in “Practical Magic 2.”
The announcement was made by Warner Bros.

on TikTok, confirming the sequel to the 1998 romance-fantasy classic. Bullock and Kidman are expected to produce alongside Denise Di Novi, who also produced the original film. Akiva Goldsman, the Oscar-winning writer of "A Beautiful Mind," will handle the screenplay.

The original "Practical Magic" follows the story of Sally and Gillian, sisters descended from a long line of witches, raised by their aunts after their parents' deaths.

They accidentally poison Gillian’s abusive boyfriend, reanimate his corpse, and must combat his evil spirit while dealing with a family curse that dooms any man who loves an Owens woman.

Despite mixed reviews for the original film, the sequel has generated excitement among fans. Previous plans for a prequel series focusing on the sisters’ aunts were canceled earlier this year, but Denise Di Novi hinted that something new was in the works from the “Practical Magic” universe.

The release date for "Practical Magic 2" has not yet been announced, but fans can stream the original film on Max in the meantime.
