Hailing from Los Angeles originally, Wild Thang recently relocated to Oregon with his owner, Ann Lewis. Together, they walked away with a hefty check for $5,000.

Wild Thang's backstory adds another layer to his charm. According to his bio, he contracted distemper as a puppy while in foster care, which caused his tongue to permanently protrude. Despite this physical quirk, Lewis assures everyone that Wild Thang is a happy and healthy pup.

The World's Ugliest Dog contest, a staple of the Sonoma-Marin Fair for nearly five decades, goes beyond just celebrating unique looks. It serves a greater purpose: promoting the adoption of shelter dogs, particularly senior ones, over purchasing from breeders.
