Jay Cutler Arrested for DUI and Weapon Possession in Tennessee
Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested on October 17, 2024, in Franklin, Tennessee, on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and illegal possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
The incident occurred after Cutler allegedly rear-ended another vehicle and attempted to leave the scene. According to police reports, he offered the other driver $2,000 to avoid calling law enforcement.
Upon police arrival, officers observed signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol.
Cutler initially denied consuming alcohol but later admitted to having "a little bit" after the officer, trained in detecting impaired driving, indicated he was not being truthful. He refused to take a field sobriety test and was subsequently taken into custody.
A search of Cutler's vehicle revealed a loaded Glock handgun in the center console and a rifle in the back seat.
He faces multiple charges, including DUI, illegal firearm possession, failure to exercise due care, and implied consent violations. After posting a $5,000 bond, Cutler was released from jail.
Cutler, who played for teams like the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins, was previously the star of the reality show "Very Cavallari" alongside his ex-wife Kristin Cavallari.
They divorced in 2020, citing "irreconcilable differences." Cutler is scheduled to appear in court for these charges on January 16, 2025.
