Millie Bobby Brown recently revealed that she drew inspiration from Drew Barrymore’s iconic 1992 Poison Ivy look for her character in the new Netflix film The Electric State. During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Stranger Things star shared how Barrymore’s blonde curls and bold style became the centerpiece of her character’s mood board.

“You didn’t make it, you were the mood board,” Brown told Barrymore, pointing to a photo of the actress from Poison Ivy. The Enola Holmes star explained that her character’s hair was initially dyed very blonde, but to reflect her depressed and grieving state, the team toned it down and let her roots grow out.

Barrymore praised Brown’s look, saying, “You nailed it.”

The Electric State follows Michelle (Brown) and her robot companion as they journey through a post-apocalyptic 1990s world in search of her missing brother. Along the way, they encounter new faces, including Chris Pratt’s character, Keats.

The film is now streaming on Netflix.
