Real Madrid vs. Real Betis: Ancelotti Makes Eight Changes to Lineup

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to make up to eight changes to his starting lineup as Los Blancos face Real Betis in a crucial La Liga match on Saturday evening at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

This game presents an opportunity for Real Madrid to move three points clear of league leaders FC Barcelona, who play Real Sociedad the following day. However, Ancelotti’s side also has one eye on their upcoming Champions League last-16 first-leg tie against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Despite the looming European clash, Ancelotti emphasized that his team is fully focused on securing three vital points in La Liga. “They are three vital points for the league. We will take the best team without thinking about Tuesday’s game,” the Italian stated during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Ancelotti’s decision to rotate the squad comes after a 1-0 Copa del Rey semifinal first-leg victory over Real Sociedad, where an early goal from Endrick secured the advantage. However, the match also saw injuries to key players, with Dani Ceballos sidelined for up to two months and Fede Valverde ruled out for the Betis clash after missing back-to-back training sessions.

Key Changes in the Lineup

- **Goalkeeper:** Thibaut Courtois returns to the starting XI, replacing Andriy Lunin.

- **Defense:** Ferland Mendy takes over at left-back from Fran Garcia, while David Alaba partners Toni Rudiger in central defense. Lucas Vazquez will start at right-back.

- **Midfield:** Luka Modric and Aurelien Tchouameni form a double pivot in the absence of Ceballos and Valverde.

- **Attack:** With Jude Bellingham serving the final game of his two-match suspension, Brahim Diaz steps into the central attacking midfield role. He will be flanked by Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo on the wings.

- **Striker:** Kylian Mbappe retains his position as the central striker, with Endrick on the bench.

Real Madrid Starting XI vs. Real Betis:

Courtois; Mendy, Rudiger, Alaba, Vazquez; Tchouameni, Modric; Vinicius, Brahim, Rodrygo; Mbappe.

This match is pivotal for Real Madrid’s title aspirations, and Ancelotti’s rotations reflect the need to balance domestic and European commitments. Fans will be eager to see if the changes pay off as Los Blancos aim to maintain their momentum in La Liga.
