Iran Releases Preliminary Report on President Raisi's Helicopter Crash

The General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces has released its initial investigation report on the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions. The report, published on Thursday, provides some insight into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Investigation Details
A high-level inquiry committee, comprising experts and technicians, was dispatched to the crash site on Monday morning. According to the report, the helicopter had remained on its intended flight path and had not deviated from its course.
The pilot of the crashed helicopter had communicated with the other two aircraft in the presidential convoy approximately 15 minutes before the accident. The report also states that no bullets or similar objects were found at the crash site.
Cause of the Crash
The investigation suggests that the helicopter caught fire after colliding with a mountain. The report attributes the challenges in search and rescue operations to "complications of the region, fog, and low temperature." The exact location of the incident was identified with the assistance of drones at 5:00 a.m. local time on Monday.
Watchtower and Crew Conversations
The report reveals that no unusual activity was detected in the conversations between the watchtower and the flying crew. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released in due course.
Background
President Raisi's helicopter crashed in hilly terrain on Sunday while en route to East Azerbaijan province. The crash also claimed the lives of Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem, the representative of Iran's Supreme Leader to East Azarbaijan, and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
